The plot with Eclipsa is probably one of the worst things in the entire show. I'm sorry man, but I'm not going to lie to you. She shows up in the second half of season 3 and they fumble everything by that point.

Because it was written in the 2010s by millennials who think subverting expectations is deep and an acceptable substitute for writing a good series.
If you're a conspiracist and buy the idea that the creators never expected to get renewed, maybe Eclipsa was going to be the final villain, but
then they reworked everything because they needed to fill another season. Who knows. Still sucks, though.
