I introduced my uncle (who's the portrait of a conservative New England boomer) to sumo and he actually appreciated it after initially making fun of it. It's not impossible. But yeah, the double standard between sumo and MMA is laughable. It doesn't help that most MMA fighters are complete clowns covered in tattoos. The JSA has a point about sumo's dignity.
