Vampyr suffers from several issues, yeah (I mean it's DONTNOD, a studio plagued by "cool ideas, poor executions" since day one). But I do think having to accomodate the maps for its combat impacted exploration negatively. Then there was the usual (and I'm sorry to have to be the one to pull that one) so called ludo-narrative dissonance of core gameplay XPing mechanics that was about the impact of murder via feeding vs the hundreds of people you have to kill just walking the street (harder to handwave, when refusal to murder happens to a core of your narrative as enforced through gameplay). Then the resources management and having to scrap enough to save infected citizens from the plague being impacted by loot...

I mean, the game might have pull it off by removing most exraneous fights and focusing on bosses, but it would have needed a more robust and refined combat system.
So I don't know, maybe I'm wrong. But I do think the point worth raising.
