I really wanted to post this before the next Yellow thread, but I didn't feel like waiting a few days for a thread that might get archived early.
Anyway, this is just a short update from a devanon working on a fangame in GMS2.
I posted an update last month, probably saying I was still implementing features. I backtracked on that statement quickly, and took a month off from my fangame.
Early on I hit a roadblock. Most of the script by now is finished, but I honestly hated trying to fit it into the engine. Programming just takes way longer than writing.
I promised myself to start getting serious about developing once summer came around, and now it's here. Don't expect another update from me until August or so.
In GameMaker, I have the basics done - mostly the pacifist route cutscenes. Most of them haven't been tested yet, partly because the new assets aren't even there.
Programming overall has been slow. It's not fun for me to comb over every line for tiny fixes. I want the frustrating parts done sooner, so I can get to the parts of development that are actually fun.
It's also frustrating sometimes to browse online and see all of that fanart while knowing you won't see any for your fangame until it actually comes out.
Expect coding to take at least a month. I should have plenty of time to do sprites/music after.
