I agree that Medic girlfriending is incredibly gay behavior, but Phlog is one of the easiest weapons to counter in the game; you can stack Heavies or build a sentry or two, or simply benefit from the slow chip damage that the Detonator or Scorch shot tend to provide and build Uber quickly if they aren't Detonator jumping and playing fast.
