Censoring the artbook was too much of a middle finger to the fans, it was actively taking away something that they had paid for. Besides that, they put too many chips on their mobileslop department instead of churning out more characters and stages, but by then the actual ideas guy from the team was pushed away and the well was nearly dry.
SG is not dead dead of course, a fun and good game will always have fans, but it's never gonna make a comeback unless everything goes back to how it used to be.
