Censoring the artbook was too much of a middle finger to the fans, it was actively taking away something that they had paid for. I've never understood the absolute cults of fan bases the Homestuck, Undertale and now Deltarune are.

You could pretty much just go to any library and then find a section that is written for teens and randomly pull any book of the shelf and you would arguably get the exact same experience out of it minus the absolutely rabid fans.

No, that happens at in person tournaments too.
I should know, I used to go to them and even had some top 8 placements under my belt.
Going to tournaments used to be a fun time to play with friends on person. But there was way too much tension over inane shit that wouldn't bother a well adjusted adult.
I basically only confided this sentiment to 1 other person in the flesh before I dipped out for good, and he shared a similar sentiment on how the dynamic feels less enjoyable to participate in unless you only interact with people you are on friendly terms with going in.

Being too difficult to pick up. It died even before its first EVO showing where the finals were Duckator and a literal combo autist where the autist only even made it to finals because he could tod people, the moment he fought someone with strong fundamentals he just crumbled. The entire rest of the competition were people who weren't even half as good as these two because the game was really fucking hard to play and (partially unintentionally) built around these touch of death combos. You both had to be really good at fighting games AND really good at Skullgirls specifically.

It got better later on but people weren't going to give it another chance, and why should they? It was still really hard to play, that never changed. There's a reason the mvc2 tourney scene was really fucking small, Mike should have taken the hint instead of going "I'll make my own, surely things will turn out differently".
