I don't agree. It's completely unfair to make this comparison, but Amuro, Kamille, and Kira stand out as stronger characters in part because they're completely conscious of what it means to take a life from the beginning. They find ways to talk themselves into it, but deal with the strain and pressure it puts on them, each in different ways.
Bellri straight up barely seems to care about killing people early on, and if the characters don't care, why should we? Them adding just a few extra shots of Bellri being in clear distress about killing somebody he personally knew is already a big improvement.

Executed far better in the movie with the redone photon torpedo scene. Him reacting harshly to killing Rockpie vs freaking out over accidentally becoming a mass murderer and trying to get rid of the Perfect Pack immediately.
