Japan has been dying and on life support for decades. Notice how the anime industry used to have more wealth to create stuff like pic related. Then they changed to digital hand drawn art because it was supposedly cheaper, but the peak of retro anime has never been realized in modern anime despite everything being supposedly cheaper.
