Oh right, I can totally understand. I've played it for a while and dropped it as soon as I beat the three bosses or so they had in the game ages ago. Might check it out before it leaves early access, but considering they are going to wipe everything, I'm not too keen of that idea. The game doesn't varant these real time hour upgrades and building for what it is. There is no coop right now and I don't think coop would bring anything meaningful to this retarded grind either.

I like games like Outer Wilds, with a sense of adventure and scale and size. Puzzles are an option.

In my experience it won't be. Pretty much all games on my wishlist have a regular and sale price and just between those each sale. After some years the company seems to just be done with a game and toggles the switch, letting old games only get "cheaper" through inflation.

This is the first year during Summer Sale where I have 0 excitement for ANY game at all on the store. I just look at all the games on sale and think "I've played a better version of this before, why should I care?"

I genuinely feel like I've played most of the good games out there. Can any anon give me any recommendations??
I like everything except Survival, Horror and Fighting games.

What are some "essential" DRPGs/blobbers/first-person-party-based-dungeon-crawlers to pick up on this sale? I've already played Etriams and got bored of Labyrinth of Refrain.
Currently eyeing the different Wizardry games, Elminage Original (totally not Wizardry), Class of Heroes 1-2-3 (Wizardry but anime), Stranger of Sword City, but I'm open to more suggestions.
I want a "true" DRPG experience, but at the same time something ball-bustingly hard due to being full of bullshit and borderline requiring guides like Wizardry 1 just doesn't really seem fun or worthwhile anymore. Are any of the more modern ones more streamlined but still keeping at least some of the "soul"?

I don't even know what to get anymore. A lot of these newer games are just pure trash. Dragon's Dogma 2? Just play the superior original. Dying Light 2? So botched that the first game is THAT much better and it's not even a contest. Thing is, I wanted some action RPG to play after GBF Relink and new Ys are too expensive. Yet my only experience with souls-like games are Dark Souls themselves (1, 2 and 3).

>Okay. Can you actually grind in those games? Because random loot combined with rpg elements sounds like a way to overcome many difficulties, at least until NG+ and beyond.

You can in a way. For example, if you kill player revenants and use their gear, then yes, the game will be easier, but you can just choose not to use 'em (which is what I did) and store the best stuff for later or destroy it for components. Also, I'd say levelling up doesn't really matter too much; it's mostly gear that matters.

>that VN
The most unforgettable horror porn game I've ever played. No other game had a bunch of elementary schoolers gangbang a teenage girl against a wall. And the teenage girl loved it. No other game I've played had a 17 year old bishonen guy drink a 14 year old girl's piss and chase her down the hall to rape her, only to wind up getting anally raped by a 32 year old fat man. I still remember the scene where a 16-17 girl was hiding under a bed as her same age best friend was having sex with that same 32 year old fat guy on top. She heard every moan, bed shake and sound. In the wrong end she was discovered under the bed by her friend and made to join. A most terrifying scene was when an unwilling girl relives another girl's sex memories. The girl in the memory consented but the reliving girl didn't. It didn't matter that she was mentally screaming, her body in the memory did all the motions and actions as in history. It's like mind control rape except the victim was fully aware. Another scene the same girl and a friend were almost raped in a magic sex ritual, saved by the girl's older sister, and the backlash made the older sister want to rape her younger sister and friend.

The loli in this pic is freakishly lewd and once disguised herself as a teenage girl, fucked a boy until he nearly came, transformed back saying
>You thought you were having sex with a highschooler weren't you? I'm an elementary schooler all along!
And leglocks that boy, forcing him to cum inside her unprotected, when he screams in fear upon learning this. This isn't even getting into the tentacles, the gay sex, the lesbian sex, the incest, the sequel's mother/daughter lesbian scene, etc. The first chapter alone contains lots of lesbian sex scenes with an unavoidable girl masturbating in the bathroom. Truly horror is intrinsically connected with sexuality.

Most of these games defined or repositioned their genres.

You can't get a better military SIM game than Arma 3 for example, especially when you factor in mods for multiplayer servers. Have you played it recently? Games like Squad and hell let loose are great, but they don't have the capacity of Arma 3.

Days Gone was shockingly good. It's kind of funny. It's got the veneer of some boring slump console game, but the actual story and gameplay is relatively engaging. Solid 8 out of 10 for me. The zombie horde mechanic is unique, it actually makes the zombie trope (tired and boring) creepy.

You can take out a single zombie but if you fuck up it's only a matter of time before a horde comes.

Evil Within 2 is good but nonstop and a bit awkward controls if I recall.

Both great.

Days Gone if you need something to pass time, Evil Within 2 if you need constant stimulus.

Elden Ring is a mid soulslike game. It does nothing new that enhances in the gameplay or formula. The open world just feels tacked on since that was what everybody was doing at that time. I enjoyed Elden Ring, but it was just the a slightly different game from Dark Souls 3 (and DS3 was fairly basic too) making it mid.

It is weird you try to use that "defined their genre" argument, when you called Hades mid.

This is the only thing I'm kind of interested in. I've played crysis 1+2 years ago and still own them on steam but never played 3. You can't even buy 3 on steam anymore and only the remastered and individually its $13 for the remastered. At that point I might as well just buy the entire trilogy. Is it worth it though?

I didn't do the side content later in the game though, but again, I only played it a decade ago. I didn't hate the gameplay (though I still remember how switching paradigm would trigger an 3 sec animation, still making me seethe today). I would recommend it if you played the trilogy, probably.
XIII-2 improved a lot on XIII, especially with a charismatic antagonist (and his theme is godlike) and the gameplay (and they fixed the annoying 3s animation)

You don't need more, you played these games in this order (E > U > A). Without spoiling, Extra is a biiiit different than unlimited and alternative. Some people hate it (while still loving the other two).
You don't need to do every route in extra if you hate it, just the two main heroines.
Alternative is THE part. I hope you play and enjoy it

It's great, but since I don't know how many years ago, it's FILLED with chinese submissions. Most of it is anime or porn (yeah, you can use it to download porn through steam servers, just move the file you get on your pc and it's gg).
It's impossible to filter them out, so if you want to search without using specific filters (name), it's full of chinese. For me, it's seriously annoying.

I have very mixed feelings about Wo Dong. I really enjoyed the initial NG but when it got to the NG+ and dlcs I started to hate it. The stats and builds are way too static compared to Nioh. Every fight is just parry slop. The NG+ difficulties felt like you were not getting any stronger because of how minor all the stat increases are. Get rise of the ronin instead unless ur a chinaboo and want to take the dong zhuo.
