Don't get me wrong, the movie was shit, the design was awful and recasting Brad Dourif was blasphemy

But I really enjoyed the angle in the Child's Play remake that Chucky actually loved Andy and considered him his best friend and every brutal thing he did stemmed from that
That little concept by itself feels like it has more substance to it than the real Chucky just being the biggest cunt possible, all of the time, and frankly fucking hating the kid from first sight while concocting an elaborate scheme to troll him to death
