you believe anything beyond the bare minimum survival is a waste, you have to choose between enjoying a purchase or being able to afford food and rent
of course anything that isn't dirt cheap is a waste in your eyes because it looks like a huge sacrifice to you
and the gap is made even bigger with third world countries. Their time is worthless so their salaries and housing are just cents, and seeing items sold at prices that enable human wages is really a huge cultural shock for them
