As for better, I couldn't find anything that puts everything together musically and narratively as effectively as Spiderland does, but there are highlights if you crave some elements more than others.

Dave and Britt were heavily influenced by Rachmaninoff
Brian was influenced by early Neil Young solo albums.
I think they were all into depression era blues musicians like Blind Willie McTell and Charley Patton.
