Fair enough, but do realize that just because it's a choice doesn't mean it will be well-received.

Is your style inspired by Moebius' work?
Because while he did sometime use very hard shadows with dubious counter-lighting, it was a magnitude more subtle. You could probably remove 9/10 of those lighted border and it would look closer (and better).
If it's not inspired by Moebius then disregard that.
