Mephala, being predisposed towards feminine traits & Matriarchal in sentiment, is credited with teaching the female Chimer the simple truth that their species will face death at a much greater rate than they were used to upon Summerset. Therefore, it is their responsibility, as females, to replenish the ranks of the Chimer to accommodate this new lifestyle. It is, subsequently, the responsibility of the females in Velothi culture to "carry out" the courting process. This practice, along with the successful replenishment of the Chimeri & Dunmeri species over many millennia, has lead to the merited rumor that Dunmer Women are "Promiscuous". Especially by elven standards.
