i.e. they spread their anime and videogames
It's not like Japanese literature spread across the world like French or Russian or English literature.
Japanese cinema didn't spread, either.
Nor did their music or fashion.
Their animation style did influence western animation - now western cartoons have this uncanny mix of anime style with some mix of their own.
