the recitation idea came from my looking into nichiren buddhism. they have a very simple method in order to reach buddhamind. according to nichiren, the lotus sutra’s main approach was made for our time where things are hyperintellectualized. the people at his time were not prepared for such an approach because they lacked an education and struggled with grasping higher abstractions. the core method here is to study various buddhist texts (especially the lotus sutra). daily one also recites a mantra in which one is meant to bring the combined knowledge of all their study to bear while pronouncing each syllable. the soka gakkai also has a tendency to organize around decentralized study groups where they discuss core teachings

the appeal behind this method is that it helps reinforce a sense of context that one can bring throughout the day. it is an immediate step after simple philosophizing into actual practice. just reciting a mantra does also trigger trance states and deactivates the default mode network so the psychic technology, while crude, is still existent here. if you really wanna go the nichiren route you can vibrate “hemodpayaneishwehdaiya” once before and for times after the recitation. i should add this detail into the next version, i think i might have forgor

context is useful too because it facilitates spontaneous connection between different hubs of knowledge during a flow state leading to the realization of several connections at once, which can be an illuminating experience. i think it can also help reinforce a particularly skillful mood if paired with the right poetry
