>How is magic not nature at the edges?
You misunderstand how it works in folklore. In most folklore there were two worlds, this one and the "underworld/netherworld/afterlife". Simple logic goes that everything natural comes from this world and everything supernatural or unnatural comes from underworld, because everything in underworld works in reverse.
In some folklore there was in fact 3 world. The sky where stars (and bears) come from, its like a roof of the world, much like a tent roof. Humans are not native to that world.
Underneath that you have this world, the world of living.
Finally theres the Underworld, which is where your spirit goes after you die. It can literally be under the ground but other than that your afterlife isn't much different from this world. Elden Ring referenced this with the first big cave area with the ghost wildmen.
