Underneath that you have this world, the world of living.

It's really difficult to quantify smartness because intelligence isn't a straight line. I know people who are ridiculously smart for one thing, but complete idiots for another. Women are on average emotionally smarter than men, because that makes you a good emotional manipulator which was key to their success.

It also makes sense from a world-building perspective. If you make men better at feats of strength, then you have to give something to women. Women real natural strengths don't often lead to good heroic roles because women are naturally supportive, not leading, so you can give them something like magic.

Usually the way it's done women are more natural with magic, but never truly top crop, that is reserved to the few men who are truly autistic and hyper-focused on it (being hyper-focused on one thing is a very masculine trait, while being a generalist is more feminine) and become grand wizards.

Something tangentially related to the topic at hand that I've noticed over 20 years of GMing tabletop systems for several groups with both males and females, is that women make terrible adventurers.

Not because they're weaker (they aren't in most systems), not because they're dumber or more emotional or any of those things. But because the ultimate goal of all women is to become mothers, and once they are mothers, the rest of the world is over — It's about their children and nothing else. Mothers can't adventure, fathers can. And while a woman is adventuring, it's very likely she'll get involved with a man and want to settle down. It doesn't matter how accomplished in life a woman is on whatever field she chose, if she's childless, she herself feels like she failed as a woman no matter how many layers of cope she puts up, and everyone else feels the same too even if they try not to.
