Coding a game to be reliant for game servers and being unable to run without checks that it is connected to publisher/developer servers takes more work than making a game run offline.
Seriously. Which is easier to code

How can Gran Turismo 4 on PS2 run without internet, but Gran Turismo 7 on PS5 needs constant online connection to launch Career Mode?
It should be basic logic that you can launch a game without connecting to a corporation's servers to see if you are allowed to play a game you have bought with your own money.
