They're not that different from the rest of Ukraine, outside of those wild fields there weren't many migrations. The Russian Empire only gained control of what would become Ukraine 250 or so years ago and they lost control around 150 years after that with their defeat in WW1, not a lot changed in that time. There was no real industry so the only people migrating were farmers.
