At least on the eotech case it literally didn't matter how rugged the optic was, the way battery contacts work involve one side being a spring to maintain the contact, but under recoil the inertia forces the battery to slam back and forth.
The XPS series put the battery compartment perpendicular to the recoil axis to eliminate the issue altogether.
