God is good. He likes us a lot. He's like a parent watching his kids play sports from the sidelines. He can't interrupt the game we chose to play.
I know it's fucked up and it's not historically accurate, but Adam fell when Eve fell. You can think of this as a psychological construct within God's mind. We were prototypes in his mind, perfect Adam & Eve, in the Garden of Eden, but we chose to eat the apple.
So, Satan assaults us. Satan assaults us, day and night, as long as we choose it. Because now, we have to choose. There is no automatic protection. We choose to feel bad. Every morning when you wake up, you either fight the darts, the negative thoughts, or you don't.
Fight the darts. Throw them back. Say, "God loves me. He doesn't want me to feel like this." And then, with his surge of blessing, wrest yourself out of bed like Christ out of his tomb.
We can do this. But we have to recognize the demons influencing our thoughts. They have a lot more power to influence our thoughts than we realize. They can't READ our thoughts; but they can read our body language, our facial expressions, the things we say, the people we interact with. See? I love you guys.
