So this one was interesting. A lot was going on here at once. They had that 2.5D Sprite thing like in Octopath Traveler, but 3D backgrounds, because that chandelier behind Kudlack is 3D and swings back and forth while she talks.
But they also went with the fixed camera angles from Resident Evil. The gameplay is generally ResidentEvilish with searching for the club key for the club door and the diamond key and so on. That might be a first. No one is really doing the fixed camera angle thing outside of survival horror. Fixed Camera RPG? When you walk around the castle, there are random encounters in typical RPG fashion.
It does have some problems with the camera angles, because it isn't using tank controls in conjunction with them. With the fixed camera system, movement really needs to be determined by character direction, not camera direction or it fucks up. That's an easy fix though. But also, sometimes the doors just aren't visible so you have to remember where, precisely, you walked through, or else you can't go through the door again. Resident Evil always made sure to make the doors visible on-screen.
Still, good enough for a wishlist.
