The few times I've seen that kind of male MC the authors have destroyed and humiliated them. It's as if the Japanese can only write in extremes. Cartoonishly beta MC? has everything served on a silver platter to make the reader feel safe. MC close to the reality of a man who is inexperienced or with certain insecurities? It's completely shat on to the point of making the reader feel deeply miserable for relating to him to some extent.
