Japanese games are, for the most part, unoriginal and repetitive retellings of the same handful of stories in the same handful of mediums. Fantasy game with a turn-based party of losers saving the world from God? School children in a spooky place? School children killing each other? All turn based, of course. Usually moe shit or pixel shit. Remember how JRPGS weren't liked in the west during the 90s because they were slow and boring? That never changed. It's just now they put hot women in them. The only Japanese games people give a shit about are Nintendo or Fromsoft because they're actual games and not just tactics slop.
