I'm going to take a stab at this. Maybe because they're practically drowning in sexualized content from the beginning? Sure we millennials had the internet for porn and games and anime but back in the day a lot of stuff was heavily censored. You had to be a nerd to really have access to that stuff. Now it's everywhere from the beginning and when everything is heavily sexualized it just becomes white noise. I can kind of understand the desire for more "wholesome" options. That being said, I do not like puriteens, and both things should be allowed to exist.
