Seriously. ESPN is always on at my job, yet I've come across Elio TV spots many times in the past month.
The problem isn't the lack of marketing. It's that most people just aren't interested in a child protagonist; it makes Elio look like a movie that skews especially young. Pixar always benefited from the "what if [blank] had feelings" template because it allowed for adult protagonists due to their being non-human. Luca is the only other Pixar film that comes to mind with its main duo/trio all being underage, and we didn't get the chance to see how that would've done with a theatrical debut.
