No, that's just how humanity is.
A realistic MC would be hated by everyone.
It's also why I hate the idea of representation, people don't deserve to be represented or to feel reflected, if they were the main character of an adventure like Star Wars the bad guys would win easily.

This is why it doesn't matter if the MC is male or female, they are already going to be unrealistic for taking part of such a journey instead of instantly pussying out
