>>212122399 (OP)What´s there to disproof? Having the proper background to justify a character skills is literally that easy but there is a big difference between having it and not having it as far as narrative structure is concerned. Same goes for having objectives, motivations, flaws or contradictions.
Preferably you´d want to show rather than tell like it´s done on the phantom menace. Anakin blowing up the droids control station is only plausible because of the race but i guess Lucas didn´t have that kind of money back in the 70´s. And yet he still managed to convey the information.
Comparatively Rey had no past, she just happened to be able to take down 3 ships in one shot. Because she is a girl. That´s lazy writing and should not be encouraged or naturalized. Want to make a strong female lead? By all means do so but write her properly. I know they don´t want to take notes from Ellen Ripley, Sarah Connor, Buffy Summers, Beatrix Kiddo or even Alita because they were all written by men but there is a reason why those characters work. The hero´s journey´s is not more than 2000 years old for nothing.
