No, they don't. I have never had a knife or tool breaking on me, other than drillbits, saw blades and the likes, mostly because I'm not a subhuman, take good care of my instruments and exclusively use them for their intended purpose.
Looking at those massive gauges you left while trying to "sharpen" it, it doesn't surprise me you managed to break a Victorinox, which is relatively soft steel too.
It's insane how shitjeets can do nothing right. You can't even sharpen a pocket knife, amazing.
