I can't tell you if you'd like it or not. The lore books are mini novels in and of themselves but a lot of context and extra information comes out in the game itself (the lore books are canon in universe and often read and referenced by characters).

The lore of the Hive is really good in my opinion with the main starting point being the Books of Sorrow which details a teling of how the Hive became the Hive.
