>I'd subsume sympathetic magic under natural magic
Hmm, fair enough, actually. I suppose depending on one's philosophy, they could even be one and the same.
>I also don't know why you prefer to think of divination as being apart from magic
It's because once you divine all the stuff you care about, there's just not that much you can do with it. Magic is a bit sexier, since it's more active. You don't read the future, you change it! Sounds pretty good, eh?
>What are you doing exactly? Doing a flash audit of all there is to do or know about?
Something like that. I am hoping someone will surprise me and name a powerful and convenient form of magic that I have never heard of. Off the top of my mind, I guess I know very little about Kabbalah and also certain esoteric approaches to the "barbarous names". Kabbalah looks useful, but it seems like a huge commitment and it doesn't really speak to me. As for the "barbarous names", I was intrigued by some views that you need to awaken a special spiritual faculty in order to use them. But that's not the case for me right now, so it's kind of a moot point.
So the search continues. If there's nothing else, I will have to roll up my sleeves and return to alchemy, which is far less rewarding work, personally.
