Post proto-woke games (Games made before 2013 that were filled to the brim with suberversive woke elements)


>Half-Life 2 (2004) had a black scientist called Eli who had a half-asian half-black daughter and he constantly told the protagonist (a white man) that he wanted him to fuck his daughter and have kids with her

>Final Fantasy VII (1997) had a black party member called Barret. This was a japanese game released in the 90s.

>Final Fantasy XIII (2009) had another black party member

Is the hate for the combat system specifically in this game overblown? I feel like it was hated on at the time, and since then it became a meme or "cool to hate" just because of the reaction then. In the same vein as people who praise FFVII as one of the best games ever, just because it's the popular opinion. I really enjoy XIII's combat system. Outside the of the trilogy there's nothing else like it and I wish there was.
