Because it isn't THAT different, except in ways that genuinely improve it. He still has the same basic shape language - big v-shaped bruiser type with tree trunk arms, sledgehammer fists, stubby legs, and big shit eating grin. Just with the added bonus that he's more expressive now and his eyes don't look like too much egg in too small a plate.
I don't know what impels nerds to kvetch over "sonic doesn't have blue arms" tier bullshit. I guess it's autism, but I don't have it.
