i don't - i minimize my expenditure 98% of the time and so there is no necessity to for if i did budget then i would probably spend more money on frivolities since i've given myself that allowance
if i were salaried then i probably would give myself a wasteful allowance but since i'm not i can't rely on income
the way i see it, until my dividends etc pay for my living i am in the red every month and playing catchup to my emancipation

i flip flop on houses
on the one hand i cannot be homeless and so i'm burning ~£1000 a month just to exist which would be better poorly invested than not invested at all
on the other i don't see house prices not coming down (in real terms) once boomers die and a mortgage is leveraged
there are quality of life improvements when you own but also more risk
of course they can always play the infinity indian immigration card to push up house prices and keep the ponzi going but even that isn't sustainable forever
i think once i have a small snowball i'm going to set up a mortgage in principle and keep tabs on the market for a good fixer-uper since any house i'd buy i would want to (autistically) make my own anyway and it hedges against devaluation
the financials of renting bother me a lot less than the bullshit frankly - i simply cannot settle or have things which i want
