Playing the whole game without saving would be crazy, but I had fun with a challenge run recently where I only saved once at the start of each mission on realistic, and it was really fun. Made me appreciate the environmental training skill a lot more.
Hong Kong was really painful, took me several tries. One of the runs ended in getting eaten by the fucking karkian in the tunnels after destroying the UC, the last fucking enemy in Hong Kong.
