Because it dared have an actually serialized plot and very slight character study instead of fixating on doing the same thing about 40 other seasons did at that point that has made Sentai become a low-priority franchise for Bandai. Sentai-onlies, who are second only to Rider-onlies in terms of sheer autism, see this as though it's not a "real" Super Sentai season, not realizing it lasted this long in SPITE of its traditionalism when experimentation was the thing that resurrected Rider and Ultraman and rote repetition killed Metal Heroes. Didn't help it had a lot of Rider staff on it like Omori (despite the fact Omori made himself known with a Sentai season first).

See also: Go-Busters, where similar accusations were levied by an at the time less vocal minority while most others went "Oh damn, it's like a Kamen Rider season, that's cool!" but its retooling and poor performance were seen as praxis to the Sentai-only retards.

I expect a few NAXALT-esque responses but that's really all it is.
