Yeah wonder why. Maybe it's because in Summer 2007 we had 21 new TV anime, and in Summer 2025 we have 65, and this is consistent across the whole of the last 12 months.
Kyoani makes MAYBE one new anime a year, focuses on training new artists, and offers competitive (for the industry) wages, with minimal outsourcing. And their shit is consistently amazing, visually at the bare minimum even if you want to seethe about the writing talent. There's a pretty clear cause and effect chain here man. The studios that do less with more native talent, train the next generation, and pay well and don't push shitty hours make better art. In anime, games, and literally everything else. It's not rocket science.
