Dying a lot when you’re new to the game is fine you dont learn your limits any other way
If you fall behind consistently it can be better to start thinking in terms of - I need to get a wave and then I’ll make a play. Shouldn’t be a hard rule but fast shoving a wave before a fight will keep your champ at a decent level even if you fight a lot

Assassins in mid are in a bad spot rn yeah.
Mostly because of what you said, their supposed best matchup in mages can easily outplay them and with a single mistake the assassin becomes useless for the entire game.
Avoiding mage poke from level 1-2 is pretty lame but if you get consistent and good with it you genuinely can just run them all down once you know how. It's certainly not easy but doing it correctly does feel really good.
And you're leaving out the best thing about Qiyana which is her roaming. Your low cooldown W, ice Q and MS steroid makes it so getting good gank angles and catching enemy jungs is really easy.
Once you have any kind of lead it's trivial to influence every lane and snowball it into a W.
The reason Qiyana falls off so hard is because when you play correctly you will generate absolutely ginormous leads. Very high risk yes, but very very high rewards
Give Qiqi some more time she will eventually click with you :3
