Lighting and shaders can carry you far, also abuse the fuck out of the various Composition shaders that come with gposingway or whatever other wrapper you're using.

Back when Concept Matrix released I started fucking around with gpose while using it to see animations, I can't remember if it was Elusive Jump or Scourge that I first spent a lot of time looking over. That and a bit of lewdposting on my thighlander.
