Welcome to every private server player, ever. While I won't begrudge people for enjoying whatever they like, I find it fascinating that so many people are obsessed with the leveling up process in XI so much that they think that it is the only content that matters in the game. A primary complaint about retail I hear is "You can just level up solo really fast now". Yes, you can get to 99 quite quickly with trusts. The real thing is this though: 99 is where the game actually STARTS now.
Once you get to 99 you now get to do the actual leveling up "old school" style with job points. You will need to party up just like the old days, go out to camps and fight enemies. Same for master levels once you get that far, too.
Not to mention retail XI has a fuckload of content that you actually do at 99 (read: 119+) that isn't just "leveling up". Anyone who is glorifying the 75 cap leveling up experience is exactly what you said: someone trying to relive their glory days.
