Step 1. Verify your brake system is functional and not running off bootleg fluid. If your rear wheel locks up, lemme save you a lifetime of strife: Pull off the secondary master clyinder that's on the front left fork near the caliper. It's on a hinged point.

Inside of it, is a green filter that LOVES to get clogged. Clean it and bleed everything/rebuild kits.

Step 2. Go into both of the master clyinders on your bars and pop off the metal shields and get a super small sub 1mm rod and poke the return port till clear of any intrusions.

Step 3. If you hear your clutch chattering then fear not, it's just your clutch basket. You can fix this by lightly file-ing the surfaces that the clutch plates ride on.
Step 4. Verify your spark plugs are actually torqued properly, super easy for previous owners to fuck this up on a V4.
Step 5. DO NOT USE DOT 3, USE DOT 4 ON THE VFR
Step 6. Install a factory pro shift kit and never look back, objectively goated upgrade.
Step 7. Air likes to get trapped in the banjo bolts on the master clyinders and your slave clyinder so manually pull the slave off and push it with your hand to compress it to get all the air out. There is a very specfic bleeding procedure for VFRs so buy a manual and do it by the book so you don't have any air in the system.

Then enjoy! Those are badass bikes brother
