One of Germany's main problems regardless of ideology is that they lack natural resources, which naturally draws them into forming an alliance with a resource-rich country. The two main contenders are Russia and the USA, especially since they lost in the age of colonialism.
Though the USA, Russia, and China are all large resource-rich multicultural empires who can't help but influence their neighbors and dominate any alliances they are a part of, while small to medium sized nation-states like Germany, France, Britain, and Japan can't compete in the long term. In an ideal world, those three countries would be semi-isolationist and focused on building their own infrastructure/helping their own people, while maintaining some amount of trade with outsiders. The alternative is that USA, China, and Russia partition the planet between them. Not exactly like picrel but something similar.
