I mean, he's right, but that's just the consequence of taking a cast of characters made by a Midwestern teenager in 1998 and trying to put them in stories that are socially relevant in 2025. Only way out is to either dump them and make new characters or just restrict yourself to plots that are better suited to the characters you've already written. In that sense he's just like every other comic writer.
