You know, as much shit as Douglas deserves for being a shit parent, I will consneed that having experienced the kind of spiritual weariness he had, I sympathize. Unless Nemmy-doodle says so, they're "canon" until proven otherwise. It's up to the player which route they choose, but either way the endings are necessary for fleshing out aspects of the characters that you wouldn't be able to explore in the "canon" route.
