She's a beloved character, and possibly gets the most fanart. The guy above just finished it as his first route and called it "experience of a lifetime". So even though I didn't care for the route either, I wouldn't say it's holding the game back. It's only real issue is one of it's strengths: the genuine handling of disabilities, which will make many people refuse to accept it for superficial reasons alone.

Nobody agrees on what a "good" route order is. Even individual routes are hotly contested for their qualities (and drives some people to the brink of madness, as you've now seen). I can think of reasons to recommend any of the remaining four for your final route, for example. But Emi would be my choice for your second, after a Hanako start.
