I finished watching this series recently and liked it so much that I read the manga to continue it. I think it's an unironic 9.5/10 series, with a few small critiques here or there. I think my biggest issue is the way stakes are handled for the most part. If I were to rewrite parts of the story, it would probably be something like:
Mugen Train: Rengoku dies like usual.
Red Light: Daki/Gyutaro fight goes the same but this time, Uzui and Inosuke both die. Uzui from his wounds, and Inosuke from being stabbed by Gyutaro. Daki/Gyutaro die like usual.
Village: Muichiro dies to Gyokko, and then Gyokko escapes and leaves Hantengu to fend off the rest. The only death vs Hantengu is Nezuko, where she is burned up by the sun. Hantengu dies like usual.
Fortress: Rengoku's father joins with Tanjiro and Giyuu to fight Akaza. Giyuu and Akaza die. Shinobu and Marked Zenitsu encounter Kaigaku, who would be more buffed up in this version to reflect the strength of an upper moon proper. Zenitsu is incapable of defeating him alone. All three of them die, Zenitsu and Kaigaku trade killing blows. Urokadaki shows up and finds Gyokko. After a near death 1v1 battle, Tanjiro and Rengoku's father show up, and the three of them take out Marked Gyokko. Kanao, Mitsuri, and Obanai fight Douma. Douma kills Kanao and Mitsuri, and Obanai lands the finishing blow on Douma. The fight with Koku is virtually the same as normal, except without Muichiro since Gyokko killed him in the previous arc. Obanai joins in, now enraged, and helps fight Koku. Koku and Genya die.
After: Tanjiro, Rengoku's Father, Urokadaki, Obanai, Himejima, and Sanemi battle Muzan. Rengoku's Father and Urokadaki perish, and Muzan laughs, but then is burnt by the sun light. Tanjiro becomes a demon like normal, and he kills Obanai. Himejima restrains Tanjiro while Sanemi lands a killing blow. Tanjiro is dead. Himejime dies shortly after from exhaustion and malfunction. Sanemi is the sole survivor.
