You're only thinking in 1 dimension (or the "American way" of thinking where only 2 political parties exist). There's a difference between right wing (economic) and right wing (social).
Most Europeans are economically left wing, sure. But a lot of EU is socially right wing nowadays because the EU was fucked by immigration over the past 10 years. So people are mainly looking for political parties which promote nationalism, traditionalism and isolationism which would all be considered "right wing".
