It gets auto-selected. I think it defaults to the first option, or sequentially in order with multiple selections.
For the bounty equipment, be damn sure to pick it before expiry. Otherwise it defaults to gun laying drive, the aimtime equipment and it's fucking trash. I know this from experience because I would forget to claim my pink equipment during extra BP chapters and I have two of those fucking things on my account
